ABOUT
l.ucas (pronounced, loo + kuhs) is a songwriter, producer, engineer, and artist from Leominster, Massachusetts. His growing catalogue of self-produced music & collaborations have placed him alongside many notable collaborators including layzi, Miranda Rae, OSÁ, Timi O, & Neemz, among others.
Able to weave in and out of both popular and abstract styles, l.ucas’ calling card is that he has no signature sound.
As a self-produced artist, l.ucas has built a catalog of solo releases that blends his influences (Mac Miller, Radiohead, Massive Attack) with sonic experimentation, classical piano roots, down to earth songwriting, and the same attention to detail that attracts fans and collaborators alike. l.ucas has been nominated as one of Boston Music Awards best R&B artists of 2022 & 2023.
Last year, l.ucas' 10 song project "How Am I Supposed to Feel?" released in October. The album mixed y2k house production with modern R&B vocals, creating an etherial atmosphere for the powerful stories he would tell regarding relationships and shaky mental health. The project released along with a self-funded tour, merch run, and a short film, now available on YouTube under the same name.
After only a year of knowing each other, l.ucas & OSÁ hit a little pot of gold with a feel-good Alté banger, Trobul. The instrumental started as a failed submission to a beat-making competition, but when l.ucas played the beat in front of the Staten Island native, he knew he had to include it on his 2023 EP “Roll Bounce.”
Inspired by throwback Arabic-pop music, featuring orchestral strings & a massive, vocoder-centric outro, Gazing is unlike just about any pop song you’ve ever heard. The track marks the duo’s first official collaboration, coming right in time for Neemz to perform it on stage at 2023’s Boston Calling Music Festival.
Supplied with pre-recorded verses and a 6 year friendship with Worcester-native Timi O, the process of making Clouds Look Like Mountains From Above took about 5 days total. The goal was to move only forward, sculpting the music as quickly as possible, and the resulting product shows off an air-tight partnership between the two.
